Vermont Business Magazine Today, the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) announced a key decision to store the Amtrak train overnight in the Vermont Rail System (VRS) railyard south of Maple Street. Overnight storage of the Amtrak train in the railyard had been previously identified in a study conducted by the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission, but the prior cost was not advantageous, a new, workable solution has been found.
Vermont Business Magazine Park Burlington and the Chittenden Area Transportation Management Association (CATMA) announce the launch of a downtown employee commuter survey to better understand the parking and transportation dynamics in Burlington. Park Burlington is a city council approved public private partnership between the Burlington Business Association (BBA) and the Department of Public Works (DPW).
The last comprehensive commuter survey of employees in the Downtown Improvement District was done by BBA and CATMA in 2008.
Vermont Business Magazine Vermont Attorney General TJ Donovan and local business leaders today called for consumers and businesses to remember their neighborliness in the face of the COVID-19 virus pandemic. Attorney General Donovan urged consumers to resist an urge to hoard and warned Vermonters to report any incidents of price gouging or COVID-19-related scams to his office. The Attorney General also released a plain language guidance for businesses on topics related to COVID-19.

The meeting will take place at 6 PM in the Edmunds Middle School library. More than 20 individuals applied for the position and a search committee comprised of board members, staff, and parents worked to narrow the field to three qualified candidates.
Vermont Department of Health On Wednesday March 11, health officials announced a second person tested presumptive positive for COVID-19 in Vermont. The Chittenden County adult is being treated at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington. The test is considered presumptive pending Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmation. The first person in Vermont tested presumptive positive in Bennington County March 7.

Vermont Business Magazine To better serve residents and examine how other communities have implemented waste collection practices, the City of Burlington Department of Public Works (DPW) along with the City of South Burlington Department of Public Works is studying a potential new consolidated system for the collection of residential household trash, recyclables, and food scraps. Currently in Burlington, DPW collects residential recyclables, and residents contract with private haulers to collect residential garbage and compost or haul it to the appropriate facility themselves. Under a consolidated collection system the City would enter into agreements with haulers to consolidate residential trash, recycling and food scraps collection services.
Vermont Business Magazine Wednesday evening the Vermont Department of Health identified a new presumptive positive case of novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, in Vermont. The patient is receiving treatment for the respiratory illness at the University of Vermont Medical Center, in coordination with the Vermont Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The 7 pm announcement comes less than a week after the first case in an individual from Bennington County was reported.

The bill offers expanded healthcare access through increasing telehealth, which seeks to supplement face-to-face health services with telecommunications (telemedicine and store-and-forward strategies).
