BSD Board to vote on superintendent appointment tonight

Special School Board Meeting to Appoint BSD’s Next Leader Scheduled for 6 PM Thursday

Vermont Business Magazine The Burlington Board of School Commissioners will hold a vote to appoint the next leader of Burlington School District at a special board meeting on Thursday. The meeting will take place at 6 PM in the Edmunds Middle School library.

The meeting will begin with public comment before the board enters into executive session to discuss a number of items. It is expected that School Board Chair Clare Wool will make an announcement regarding the next leader of BSD following that executive session.

Following the October announcement that current Superintendent Yaw Obeng would be stepping down at the end of the school year, the Board of School Commissioners launched a national search for a new Superintendent.

More than 20 individuals applied for the position and a search committee comprised of board members, staff, and parents worked to narrow the field to three qualified candidates (SEE BELOW). Last week, those three candidates were interviewed by the board and participated in a community forum.
