Vermont Business Magazine The Peck Company Holdings, Inc, based in South Burlington, has announced the signing of contracts totaling $7.641 million for six projects totaling 10.5 megawatts. The 10.5MW portfolio of six projects is located in Vermont and include nameplate sizes from 220kWdc to 2.7MWdc. Several of the projects have already started construction and will be completed by year-end. The entire portfolio will be complete within the next two quarters.
The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department will open its Walter Cabell Shooting Range in Woodbury to the public for hunters to sight in their rifles on Saturday and Sunday, October 17 and 18 from 11:30am-3:30pm. Shooters will be required to follow all rules including range rules and current COVID-19 guidelines.
Vermont Business Magazine Department of Financial Regulation Commissioner Michael Pieciak announced today that the Department of Financial Regulation issued an order requiring a Brattleboro-area individual to immediately cease and desist holding himself out as an investment professional. A call to the department’s consumer hotline complained that William J Therieau was holding himself out as an investment advisor and had encouraged a consumer to invest money with his purported company – Therieau Financial Services.
Vermont Business Magazine The Caledonia Food Co-op has received a USDA Rural Development Grant for $50,300 (total project cost $68,080) through the Town of St Johnsbury as fiscal agent. This brings the project into Phase II of Co-op development and provides the funding to proceed with critical next steps: finding a site and Founding Member recruitment.
Vermont Business Magazine Casella Waste Systems, Inc (Nasdaq: CWST), a regional solid waste, recycling and resource management services company, announced that the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services issued a permit modification to expand the Company’s North Country Environmental Services, Inc landfill to increase its permitted disposal capacity by approximately 1.24 million cubic yards of airspace. This expansion will provide approximately six years of additional disposal capacity at the site located in Bethlehem, New Hampshire.

Vermont Business Magazine Today Vermont Secretary of State Jim Condos announced that a record number of ballots have been cast early in the November 3rd, 2020 General Election as compared to ballots cast early in prior elections. As of the end of the day on Tuesday, 110,016 Vermonters have voted early in the 2020 General Election, with three weeks of early voting remaining. The previous record of total ballots returned early/absentee in a single election was 95,203 in the 2016 General Election.

Seven BTC programs returned to in-person learning in separate locations around Burlington during the week of October 5th. Vermont Business Magazine Toronto-based mining company Magris Resources Canada Inc has entered into a definitive stalking-horse agreement to acquire substantially all the assets of Imerys Talc America Inc, Imerys Talc Vermont Inc and Imerys Talc Canada Inc (collectively, the "North American Talc Business") for US$223 million. The North American Talc Business is being sold under proceedings commenced by the sellers under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code.
