Vermont Business Magazine BETA Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: BETA), a Vermont-based electric aerospace company, leading in the development and commercialization of electric aircraft, charging infrastructure, and aerospace grade electric propulsion, today announced its financial and operating results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2025. Highlights include: Successfully listed as a public company on NYSE; formed strategic partnership with GE Aerospace including $300M equity investment.; received FAA Part 35 Type Certification for Hartzell Propeller. The South Burlington electric aircraft maker, which went public in November, nearly tripled revenues to $8.9 million, from $3.1 million in 3Q2024.

Vermont Business Magazine Eve Air Mobility (NYSE: EVEX), (NYSE: EVEXW) has selected BETA Technologies (NYSE: BETA) to supply electric pusher motors for its conforming prototypes and production aircraft. With a current backlog of 2,800 eVTOLs, Eve is strengthening its supply chain through this collaboration. The agreement represents a potential 10-year opportunity for BETA of up to USD $1 billion and reinforces Eve's commitment to proven technologies and dedication to exceeding mission requirements. The agreement follows an initial evaluation period in which Eve purchased, tested, and validated the performance of BETA motors in its Engineering Prototype in anticipation of its first flight, which is expected to take place late this year/early 2026.

Vermont Business Magazine Governor Phil Scott and members of his cabinet will be in Bennington County on Friday, December 5 for its Capital for a Day 14-county tour. Governor Scott first launched this initiative in June 2018, and he and his cabinet visited all 14 counties over the following 10 months. Capital for a Day gives local constituents, municipal government leaders and other partners the opportunity to connect directly with state leadership and staff.

Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont Nuclear Decommissioning Citizens Advisory Panel (VT-NDCAP) will hold its final regular meeting of 2025 on Monday evening, December 8, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:45 PM.  In addition to receiving updates from NorthStar and Vermont State Agencies regarding recent Vermont Yankee (VY) decommissioning activities, the Panel will also hear a report on recent activities from its Federal Nuclear Waste Policy Committee.  The Committee expects to discuss possible actions following its recent meeting with representatives of the San Onofre Decommissioning Citizens Engagement Panel. 

Vermont Business Magazine The first important deadline for Vermont’s Open Enrollment period is coming soon: Vermonters enrolling through Vermont Health Connect must enroll by December 15 for coverage to begin on January 1, 2026. Open Enrollment for Vermont’s health insurance marketplace began on November 1. During Open Enrollment, Vermonters can sign up for or change their qualified health and dental plans for 2026. Open Enrollment continues until January 15, 2026, but coverage will begin February 1 for enrollees signing up after December 15. It’s important to sign up now, before the December 15 deadline, to have coverage for all of 2026. Financial assistance is available for most Vermonters enrolled though Vermont Health Connect. While federal assistance is decreasing, many Vermonters can still see significant savings. 

Vermont Business Magazine Governor Phil Scott and the Department of Buildings and General Services announced today the date of the annual State House Christmas tree lighting on Tuesday, December 9 at 5:00 p.m. The event will take place on the State House lawn and is open to the general public. The Christmas tree lighting will feature performances by the Cirque de Fuego fire dancers and Shidaa West African Drumming, Rudolph the VTRANS plow truck, visits with animals, including Secretary of Agriculture Anson Tebbetts’ miniature donkey, Frannie. This portion will begin at 4:00 p.m. before the lighting ceremony starts at 5:00 p.m. The 41-foot tall spruce blue spruce was donated by the W.M. Group in Moretown

Vermont Business Magazine Vermont State University (VTSU), in partnership with the Northeast Grass-Fed Beef Initiative (NGBI) and Sodexo, is launching a transformative project to establish a sustainable local grass-fed beef supply chain for its campus dining facilities. This initiative, made possible by generous support from the Henry P. Kendall Foundation, aims to strengthen and invest in Vermont’s food system while furthering VTSU’s commitment to education, sustainability, and community impact. Central to this work is VTSU’s leadership in agricultural education through the Center for Agriculture & Food Entrepreneurship (CAFE). Established to strengthen Vermont’s agricultural and forest economy, CAFE develops and supports a skilled workforce through flexible learning options, hands-on training, and industry-recognized credentials. 

Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources is revising the Long Range Management Plan (LRMP) for the Okemo State Forest in Ludlow. The public is invited to participate in the planning process and share input on the future use and conservation of these state lands. An in-person public scoping meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, beginning a month-long opportunity for the public to learn about the property and submit comments. The comment period will remain open until January 23, 2026.

Vermont Business Magazine With the home heating season here, you may be wondering if your firewood is dry and ready to burn. Vermonters can check out a moisture meter for free from one of 63 public libraries. This is thanks to a statewide loan program from the Departments of Libraries and Environmental Conservation (DEC). Using this small, hand-held device, you can make sure your firewood is dry (with 20% moisture or less) before burning. Dry, seasoned wood burns hotter and cleaner than wet wood, saving both money and energy while making less smoke. During the wintertime, residential wood smoke is a main contributor to fine particle pollution and is responsible for poor air quality days, especially on calm, clear, and cold winter nights.
