Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont department of Health on Wednesday reported 99 new cases of COVID-19 and three more deaths for a statewide total of 267. There are currently 21 hospitalized with nine in the ICU. According to CDC data, 85.1 percent of eligible Vermonters (468,900) have received at least one dose of vaccine, which is the highest rate in the nation.

Vermont Business Magazine The Biden Administration and USDA have announced a long-awaited update to the SNAP (known in Vermont as 3SquaresVT) “Thrifty Food Plan.” The updated plan will now more closely reflect the true cost of food. This long-overdue change will result in roughly a 25% increase in 3SquaresVT benefit amounts and will help tens of thousands of our neighbors afford a healthy, nutritious diet for themselves and their families.

Vermont Business Magazine Isotech North America in Colchester has received an additional order from the US Navy for its custom temperature calibrators. Isotech was awarded a Navy contract for design and development of approximately 700 next generation dry block temperature calibrators . After successful field evaluations and performance data from the early delivery orders, the Navy has placed new delivery orders in large quantities.

Today, 74% of Vermont parents report programs are providing STEM, the same as in 2014. Sixty percent of parents nationally and 39% in Vermont report that their child participates in STEM in afterschool twice or more per week.

Vermont State Police The northbound travel lane of Interstate 89 just past the Williston exit will be closed for an extended period following a dump truck that crashed into the South Brownell Road overpass Wednesday morning, Aug. 18, 2021. Inspections are underway for damage to the bridge and the highway. No injuries were reported in the single-vehicle wreck.
