Warren McClure, Cathedral Square has launched a $1 million capital campaign to ensure the future of Memory Care at Allen Brook, a Williston-based residence for very low-income Vermonters on Medicaid. The two families, known for their philanthropic support of worthy Vermont causes for decades, are matching every donation to the campaign dollar for dollar up to $500,000. Cathedral Square hopes to meet the $1 million goal for the Campaign for Memory Care at Allen Brook by the end of the year.
Vermont Business Magazine The deadline is approaching to enroll in the 2023 USDA Dairy Margin Coverage Program (DMC). The Vermont Legislature approved $2,600,000 to reimburse Vermont dairy farmers enrolled in the DMC for 2022 and 2023. The reimbursement program is currently underway and estimates DMC reimbursement allocated to-date for 2022 at $1,500,000. It is estimated that there will be $1,100,000 remaining to provide reimbursement for the Tier I premiums in calendar year 2023. USDA has announced the sign up for the 2023 Dairy Margin Coverage Program with a deadline for enrollment as December 9th, 2022. Vermont Business Magazine Average gasoline prices in Burlington have risen 11.7 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.92/g today, according to GasBuddy's survey of 100 stations in Burlington. Prices in Burlington are 24.6 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 48.2 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has declined 2.39 cents in the last week and stands at $5.28 per gallon. According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Burlington was priced at $3.49/g yesterday while the most expensive was $4.09/g, a difference of 60.0 cents per gallon. The lowest price in the state yesterday was $3.35/g while the highest was $4.10/g, a difference of 75.0 cents per gallon.

Incidents of all workplace violence have been steadily increasing since before the pandemic, especially including our hospitals. Our emergency rooms, always places of high stress and high stakes, are particularly hard hit with violent episodes of both verbal and physical abuse happening daily.
Vermont Business Magazine On October 25, 2022, the Vermont Declaration of Inclusion initiative reached the milestone of exceeding 50% of Vermont residents residing in municipalities that have adopted a Declaration of Inclusion. The 73 towns and cities that are home to 52% of the population (334,963 Vermonters) have each pledged themselves to welcome and treat all members of marginalized communities who visit, reside, or do business there, fairly and equitably. The Declaration of Inclusion Initiative is an ongoing effort to raise consciousness about the importance of diversity, equity, and justice and the positive effect that diversity can have on our economy.
Vermont Agency of Agriculture Food & Markets Are you looking for technical assistance related to dairy food safety? Or are you wanting to develop a dairy food safety plan but don’t have the necessary resources? The Northeast Dairy Business Innovation Center (NE-DBIC), hosted by the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets, is currently accepting applications for the second round of the Dairy Food Safety and Certification Grant. This funding opportunity offers support to dairy farmers, processors, and/or producer associations in all Northeast states to improve the safety of dairy products. Awards will range from $10,000 - $40,000 with a 25% required match commitment.
Vermont Business Magazine The Board of Directors of the Okemo Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce recently approved a new organization-wide membership development campaign, “OVRCC 350”, with a goal to reach 350 members in the next two years. The chamber currently has approximately 300 members. This effort is engaging the whole Okemo Valley Chamber organization in retaining and recruiting new members, involving not only the Executive Director, Member Services Director, Membership Committee, and Board of Directors, but also the entire OVRCC Membership. This plan was developed with feedback expressed from board and committee members and ongoing efforts of the organization. This work will begin right away and run through the 4th Quarter of 2022 with additional campaigns to be scheduled for 2023.
