The Vermont Business Roundtable Executive Leadership Series presents Marilyn H. Tam, who will give a presentation on September 25, 2015.
Marilyn H. Tam is a business leader, author and consultant. Ms. Tam is a former CEO at Aveda Corp., president at Reebok (apparel and retail group), and vice president of Nike, Inc., and is the entrepreneur behind four companies.
Her rags-to-riches story is compelling. She has led an extraordinarily diverse life, from her beginnings in a traditional Chinese family in Hong Kong, to her rise through the executive ranks of the international business world to become an influential corporate leader, storyteller, author, and respected humanitarian.
Ms. Tam is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post, has hosted a weekly radio show, and is the author of several books, including The Happiness Choice.
Ms. Tam will speak about “Diversity: How to Reap Vermont’s Rich Harvest of Culture, Creativity & Community.”
Three Vermont community members will serve as responders to Ms. Tam’s presentation, offering Vermont perspective and experience to her remarks. They are Ted Castle, owner and president of Rhino Foods, Wanda Heading-Grant, vice president for human resources, diversity and multicultural affairs at the University of Vermont, and Tiffany Bluemle, director of Change The Story VT.

This event takes place Friday, September 25, 2015, 8:30 – 10:30 AM at the Sheraton Burlington Emerald Ballroom.
Vermont is among the least diverse states in the nation and increasingly employers struggle to attract and retain employees. One often-overlooked opportunity is our growing and diverse immigrant community, both New Americans and others who choose to migrate to our state. Ms. Tam and the other speakers will offer some guidance to all employers—private, public and not-for-profit—about how best to cultivate and retain a diverse workforce.
