New Extension Youth Farm Safety Coordinator is welcomed

Kristen Mullins recently started work at the University of Vermont Extension, accepting the position of youth farm safety coordinator. Her grant-funded position identifies farm safety issues specific to smaller, diversified farms, and uses those findings to create additional modules for the online curriculum Gearing Up for Safety, a Purdue University project. The project will also create and offer safety days and camps two and three years down the road, some of them specifically focused on girls and young women.

Mullins previously was employed by Vermont Works for Women where she was responsible for directing workforce development programs for women and girls. She has a background in curriculum development and anti-violence training, as well as having spent time working on a dairy farm in Orwell. Her telephone number is (800) 571-0668 (toll-free in Vermont); her e-mail is [email protected].
