The Nature Conservancy in Vermont, a nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving the lands and waters on which all life depends, has named Elise Barry as its new deputy director of conservation programs, effective Sept. 9.
Barry brings to her new position more than 10 years' experience in the sustainability space and deep expertise in strategy, action-oriented implementation, partnership facilitation, and inclusive leadership. For the last five years, she has advised senior NGO, government and business leaders on climate, sustainability and conservation strategy as a consultant with McKinsey & Co.’s sustainability practice.
“Elise is a collaborative and effective problem solver who has dedicated her career to climate, nature and equity causes,” said Eve Frankel, state director of The Nature Conservancy in Vermont. “With ambitious organizational goals to meet the issues of our time, Elise is well-poised to be a strategic leader for land and water conservation in Vermont.”
Barry is a graduate of Georgetown University and holds an MBA with a concentration in sustainability from Cornell University.
