Lund’s Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the recent election of its new board president and five new members to the Board of Trustees. Paulette Thabault of South Burlington was elected as President. Paulette has served on Lund’s board for the past nine years and has chaired Lund’s Strategic Planning and Governance Committees. She is Director of the School of Nursing at Norwich University and practices in South Burlington, focusing on the treatment of obesity and related chronic diseases. Paulette holds an AD in Nursing from the University of Vermont, a BSN from the University of Washington, an MSN from Simmons College, a DNP from Northeastern University and a JD from New England School of Law. She is Vice President for the Vermont Nurse Practitioner Association.
Lund’s five new Board Members are: Jessica Brumsted of Shelburne, who started volunteering in 1986 when she was a student at the University of Vermont, where she received her BA in political science and economics and her Master’s in Public Administration. Recently Jessica helped to organize Lund’s 125th birthday celebration. Jessica is a government relations professional who started her career in Senator Jim Jeffords' Vermont office before serving as Director of Government Relations at then Fletcher Allen Health Care. She later served as Director of the Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Program at the University of Vermont before resigning to focus on raising her children. For the last decade, she has been an active community volunteer serving on numerous committees and boards. Jessica is a member of the United Way of Northwest Vermont’s Women's Leadership Council and Champlain College's Single Parents program. She recently chaired the fundraising committee for UVM Medical Center's new Mother-Baby inpatient unit. Jessica is a member of the External Advisory Committee for the Visiting Nurses Association, and has served on the VNA's board, and is a member of the UVM Integrative Health in Primary Care Advisory Committee.
Thomas Cheney of Jericho is the Deputy Commissioner at the Vermont Department of Human Resources. He grew up in Milton and is a 2009 graduate of the University of Vermont. He brings government experience at both the state and federal levels to Lund. Through his previous work as Chief of Staff to Vermont Speaker of the House Shap Smith and in Washington DC as a Legislative Assistant to Congressman Peter Welch, Tom gained a deep understanding of social services policy, which is what drew him to Lund. He has been engaged in community and civic service since high school, when he served on the Milton School Board as the student representative and founded a 5k race in his as part of a community service project which he organized for the next ten years as a fundraiser for scholarships for Milton High School Seniors and is a past President of the Board of HOBY Vermont, a non-profit that hosts an annual leadership conference for high school sophomores.
Christopher Loso grew up in South Burlington and currently lives in Baltimore, Maryland and South Burlington. He is Vice President of Loso’s Professional Janitorial Services, Inc. Chris’ extensive volunteer experience includes serving on Lund’s Development Committee, being appointed to the Governor’s Committee on the Employment of People with Disabilities in 2012, and becoming chair in 2014. He serves on the Vermont Statewide Workforce Investment Board and the Agency of Commerce and Community Development’s Vermont Training Program review team. He also serves on the Development Committee for Community Health Centers of Burlington. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs since 2003, and has lectured at Duquesne University, North Carolina State University and at the Baruch School of Business at City University of New York, teaching management-related courses. He has over 19 years experience as a corporate consultant for Booze Allen Hamilton in Washington DC, and Deloitte Consulting in New York City and served as a legislative aide to former US Senator James Jeffords. He has a Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute and is a Lean Six Sigma certified green belt. Christopher brings a strong background in business, organizational development and civic engagement and is looking forward to putting his expertise to work at Lund.
Jim Reardon grew up in Rutland and lives in Essex Junction. He is currently the Director of Finance and Burlington Electric. Jim has a lengthy career working in state government for over 30 years, including serving as Vermont’s Commissioner of Finance and Management since 2005. He recently won the Gloria Timmer Award National Association of State Budget Officers which is given to an individual for their significant and positive impact on the financial situation of the award recipient's state. He brings extensive financial, management and nonprofit experience to the board. Jim is currently on the audit committee for the Vermont Historical Society and a board member for HP Harmony. Jim was previously on the Board of Trustees of the Vermont Veterans’ Home. Jim has previously coached baseball and softball teams for the Town of Essex Little League as well as served on the Little League Board. He has CPA degree and has taught accounting for several years at Community College of Vermont.
Cyndee Cochrane Sturtevant of Shelburne Cyndee is a dedicated and passionate community volunteer who joins Lund’s board after being a volunteer at Lund for the past two years as a member of the Finance Committee. She is also currently serving on the board of the Howard Center and has been a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels and a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science and German from Pennsylvania State University and has an MBA from the University of Vermont. Cyndee has experience in many different professional roles including as an auditor/accountant for a Burlington CPA firm; an instructor at Community College of Vermont; a business/human resource manager for the Salzburg Seminar; and as a high school German teacher.
Lund’s mission is Lund helps children thrive by empowering families to break cycles of poverty, addiction and abuse. Lund offers hope and opportunity to families through education, treatment, family support and adoption. Lund is Vermont’s only residential treatment program for pregnant and parenting women and their children, Vermont’s largest and oldest adoption agency; a state designated Parent Child Center and a preferred provider outpatient substance abuse treatment program. Lund is a member agency of the United Way of Northwest Vermont and the United Way of Addison County.
