VHB welcomes Erin Demers as Project Manager in its North Ferrisburgh office. Demers’s planning, design, and project management experience, coupled with her local knowledge will advance VHB’s transportation and engineering practice in Vermont, providing clients with a broader array of planning and design services. Erin has in-depth knowledge of Vermont’s unique transportation and engineering needs, most recently serving as Municipal Project Manager and Public Works Engineer for the City of Burlington Public Works Department (DPW). Erin managed several large-scale municipal projects including the State of Vermont’s first Complete Street on Colchester Avenue in Burlington, Lower Church Street & St. Paul Street Streetscape Improvements and the Waterfront North Access Project, which included some of the most complex financial agreements undertaken by the City of Burlington.. “Erin is a wonderful addition to our team and we’re excited to have her joining us,” noted Managing Director Mark Colgan. “She brings an in-depth understanding of the unique challenges facing Vermont municipalities and a passion for facilitating meaningful growth through responsible planning and design that will be invaluable to our clients.” In addition to her project management experience, Erin successfully incorporated a City budget tax and bond initiative for citywide street paving and reconstruction improvements that included over $9 million worth of improvements, 30 percent of the street network over three years. This work included improving transit routes, updating bicycle networks and installing traffic calming measures while delivering the project within budget and on schedule during peak tourist season. Demers said, “I’m excited to bring my experience and knowledge to VHB’s team in Vermont. We have an incredible opportunity to revision and utilize our built world into areas of shared use spaces that create and foster community, support intelligent growth and provide a wide range of transportation options for all users. VHB has been a leader in providing creative planning and engineering solutions to our communities—I’m thrilled to be part of this dynamic team.” Demers earned her BS in Civil Engineering Technology at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York and is an active member in the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Society of Women Engineers.
