Captain Richard Phillips, the merchant marine captain from Underhill who survived the well-publicized hijacking of the cargo ship Maersk Alabama by Somali pirates in 2009 will be speaking at the Montpelier Rotary Club this coming Monday, September 21.

Phillips wrote a book about the event. “A Captain’s Duty,” and the film “Captain Phillips” was released in 2013.
The meeting will take place in Montpelier at the Capital Plaza Hotel Governor’s Ballroom.
Lunch starts at 12:15 pm; the presentation by Captain Phillips will begin at 1 and run until 1:30.
