Burlington welcomes new director of racial equity, inclusion and belonging

Kelli Perkins

Burlington Mayor Emma Mulvaney-Stanak has appointed Kelli Perkins as director of the Office of Racial Equity, Inclusion and Belonging, effective Oct. 6. She succeeds Christian Berry, who has served as interim director since last December.

Perkins joins the administration from the Upper Valley nonprofit Vital Communities, where she served as director of the Office of Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. She is a graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, and holds a master's degree in college leadership and administration from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and a Doctor of Education in high education administration from Northeastern University in Boston.

“Our city is fortunate to have Dr. Perkins join us as we continue to deepen our commitment to racial equity, inclusion and belonging in our community and our city government,” Mulvaney-Stanak said. "Dr. Perkins’ skill and experience will be helpful both in developing a strategic direction for REIB and broadening our reach to engage underserved and marginalized members of our community.”
