At the meeting, three retiring directors from the Governing Board were recognized: Craig Tomkinson of Belmont, Michael Flynn of Essex (who served as treasurer from 2003-2009), and John Dinse of Shelburne (who served on the board for 16 years, and as chairman from 2001-2005).
Three new directors were elected: Andrea Forrest Brock of St. Albans, head of Zoneup, a small manufacturing company of gardening products; Elizabeth Miller of Burlington, an attorney with Spink & Miller, PLC; and Virginia Roth of Warren, principal broker of Roth Real Estate and proprietor of Bradley House, a Vermont craft gallery.
Stephen Card of Newport, a long-time member of the North Country Friends of the VSO, was honored as Volunteer of the Year. Card is a music teacher, sings with the VSO Chorus, and serves as coordinator of most of the VSO SymphonyKids educational outreach activities in the Northeast Kingdom.
The VSO is governed by a 20-member board of directors, chaired by Ken Squier of Stowe, and supported by a statewide network of 91 volunteer leaders configured into six regional boards of trustees.
