Vermont Women’s Fund announces two new council members

The Vermont Women’s Fund at the Vermont Community Foundation announced that it has welcomed Missy Kraus and Katelyn Atwood to its council. The Vermont Women’s Fund Council is involved in all aspects of the Fund's grantmaking, fundraising, and general operations. It is made up of representatives from across the state, serving three-year terms.

“We are pleased to have Missy and Katelyn on our council,” said Meg Smith, Director of the Vermont Women’s Fund. “Missy is a highly-experienced financial advisor who realized mid-career that the only way to break the glass ceiling was to start her own firm. She is well-versed in the importance of philanthropy as well as the issues professional working women face. We also welcome Katelyn, who provides an invaluable perspective with her legal work centered on poverty and the special needs of women and children in Vermont. We are so fortunate to have them both on our council.”

Missy Kraus is the founder of M Kraus & Company, an investment management firm in Shelburne that serves the financial needs of individuals and nonprofit organizations nationwide. Her career as a financial analyst began on Wall Street with experience in the hedge fund industry, investment banking, and asset management. Kraus has a BA degree in Economics from Vassar College and an MBA in Finance from New York University. She also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Katelyn Atwood is an attorney practicing in the areas of veterans disability benefits, social security benefits, family law, and general civil litigation at Facey, Goss, & McPhee, PC in Rutland. After graduating from Vermont Law School in 2011, Atwood served as a judicial law clerk in the New Jersey Superior Court and as a staff attorney at the Montana Legal Services Association in Billings. From 2014 to August 2016, Atwood was the Vermont Poverty Law Fellow at Vermont Law School’s South Royalton Legal Clinic where she built the Vermont Veterans Legal Assistance Project to improve access to justice for Vermont’s veterans.
