Kyle Casazza, a critically acclaimed trombonist who serves as director of music at the Georgia School in Georgia, Vermont, has been appointed assistant conductor of the Vermont Philharmonic, the state's oldest community orchestra.
In this new role, Casazza will work closely with Music Director Lou Kosma on administrative and artistic duties, including planning programs, interpreting music, rehearsing musicians and participating in community outreach.
Casazza holds the Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees from the University of North Texas, where he studied trombone with Tony Baker and Vern Kagarcice, as well as conducting with Eugene Migliaro Corporon and Dennis Fisher.
In addition to his current duties, Casazza is third trombonist with the Vermont Jazz Ensemble and a member of the Vermont All-Star Salsa Band, Alma Picante.
