Jon Jamieson, CIC, president of Jamieson Insurance Agency in Waitsfield was recently elected president of the Vermont Insurance Agents Association (VIAA). Jamieson’s election as VIAA’s president follows an active involvement with the association that includes serving as vice president, as a member of the Executive Committee, VIAA board member and chair of the Young Agents Committee. Jamieson joined Jamieson Insurance in 1992 as a branch manager in Richmond. He worked as Territory Sales Manager for Progressive Corporation starting in 2000 until 2003 when he returned to the agency. In 2004 Jamieson purchased the agency and now serves as president. He has achieved the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), designation. Jamieson is very active in his community and serves as a board director at Northfield Savings Bank, board member at the Mad River Valley Community Fund, a member of the Development Review Board in Waitsfield and serves on several other boards.
Other officers include: Michael T. Walsh, CPCU, CIC, of Hackett Valine & MacDonald, in South Burlington as vice president; Dan Lussier of Poulos Insurance in St. Johnsbury as secretary/treasurer; Ron Bixby of Ludlow Insurance in Ludlow as national director; and Paul C. Gladding, CPCU of Holden Financial Services in Rutland as past president.
The following agents also serve on the VIAA board of directors: Peter Richards of The Richards Group in Brattleboro; Terri O’Hare of Lamoille Valley Insurance Agency in Johnson; and Chip Ams of Finn & Stone Insurance in Manchester.
Vermont Insurance Agents Association is a statewide trade association representing nearly 100 independent insurance agencies in Vermont, with 900 employees. VIAA member independent insurance agents represent more than one insurance company, and as a result, can offer clients a wider choice of auto, home, business, life and employee benefits. Founded in 1906, VIAA’s mission is to be an advocate for independent insurance agents and to satisfy the professional needs of its members.
