Vail Resorts names Bartels new Mount Sunapee GM

Vail Resorts, Inc (NYSE: MTN) announced that Tracy Bartels, currently senior director of mountain operations at Keystone Resort, will assume the role of general manager at Mount Sunapee, effective November 18. The appointment to the New Hampshire resort follows the announcement that Bruce Schmidt would be transitioning from his role at Mount Sunapee to serve as vice president and general manager of Okemo, with oversight of Mount Sunapee and Crotched Mountain.

“Tracy is an incredibly experienced leader, having held roles across nearly all lines of business throughout her tenure,” said Doug Pierini, vice president and chief operating officer of the eastern region. “The combination of Tracy’s depth of operations experience, her leadership and her passion for mountain communities, uniquely places her for success as she makes the move to Mount Sunapee.”

Bartels joined Vail Resorts in February 2000 as a children’s ski instructor at Breckenridge Ski Resort. In her almost 20 years with the Company, she has held a broad cross-section of roles across functions including Ski School, Food & Beverage, Health & Safety and Mountain Operations. Additionally, she is actively involved with organizations throughout the community.

“I’m honored to join the team at Mount Sunapee,” said Bartels. “The mountain’s unique character mixed with the team’s passion for creating the very best guest experience is something I look forward to contributing to.”

Tracy and her husband of 31 years will be relocating from Keystone, Colo. to Mount Sunapee. The pair have two grown children, a son and daughter.
