Sovernet Communications announced today the appointment of veteran telecommunications professional Sharon Combes-Farr as the company’s Director of Marketing, effective immediately. Combes-Farr is a Vermonter who brings with her more than 17 years of telecommunications, marketing and project management experience.
At Sovernet, Combes-Farr will spearhead all marketing and communications for the company, including the important roles of customer service and customer support.
“The entire Sovernet team is very pleased to welcome Sharon on board,” said Rich Kendall, Sovernet’s President & CEO. “I expect her telecommunications marketing expertise to make an immediate and significant contribution at an exciting time for Sovernet, as we have just completed four years of network expansion.”
Recent infrastructure investments have significantly expanded Sovernet’s delivery of high-speed data services up to 100 Gbps to enterprise, government and carrier customers throughout the New York and Northern New England region. Combes-Farr will be responsible for marketing and supporting Sovernet’s state-of-the-art commercial and residential products, as well as those of its New York subsidiary ION Communications.
“After spending much of my marketing career outside the state, I was very fortunate to have spent the last four years serving my fellow Vermonters by helping them to leverage broadband to improve their lives and livelihood,” said Combes-Farr. “Having gotten to know Sovernet and its management team very well over this time, I am simply thrilled to be joining this exceptional company.”
Combes-Farr comes to Sovernet after directing the 18-month federal disaster relief grant-funded Vermont Digital Economy Project, for the Vermont Council on Rural Development. Previously, she spent 11 years with Qwest Communications, in Phoenix, Arizona, where she played a key role in developing Qwest's consumer retention and customer loyalty strategy, and two years in the Vermont telecommunications industry.
Founded in 1995, Sovernet Communications is a leading regional provider of high-capacity network transport, broadband internet and voice services throughout a 4500-fiber-mile footprint in northern New England and New York. Sovernet and its Albany, N.Y,-based subsidiary, ION, provide services up to 100 Gbps to enterprise, carrier and government customers throughout the New York and Northern New England region.
