Neal Robinson, formerly of Vermont Electric Power Company (VELCO), has been
named vice president for finance for Saint Michael’s College; SMC President
John J. Neuhauser announced October 13. Mr. Robinson started at the liberal
arts Catholic college on Monday, October 18.
Mr. Robinson brings 30 years of financial management experience to the job,
including the last three at VELCO, a job he was recruited to take; eight
years previously as Saint Michael’s as VP for Finance, and 15 years with Banknorth Group.
“I’m excited to be returning to Saint Michael's College and to be reuniting
with the wonderful faculty and staff here who are working so hard to make
this the wonderful place that it is and to insure its sustainability,” Mr. Robinson said. “I am also especially pleased to have the opportunity to work with Saint Michael’s President Jack Neuhauser.”
Mr. Robinson was senior VP and treasurer and chief accounting officer for
Banknorth Group in Burlington from 1989-99; and was controller, senior VP
and chief financial officer for Banknorth and Vermont Bank & Trust Company in Brattleboro from 1984-89. He work four years in a bank in Ithaca, N.Y.,
and served as assistant bursar and director of student loans at Cornell University from 1975-78.
Mr. Robinson has a bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College and an MBA degree from Cornell University.
Neal Robinson is a trustee of the Episcopal Diocese of Vermont and is on the
vestry of St. James Episcopal Church in Essex. He and his wife, Karen,
reside in Essex. They are the parents of two grown children, Cameron and
Leslie. Leslie is a 2005 graduate of Saint Michael’s.
