Merchants Bank promotes Michele Murphy to branch president

Thomas S. Leavitt, Executive Vice President of Merchants Bank, announced the promotion of Michele Murphy to Branch President of the Merchants Enosburg location. Murphy will be leading all branch activities, replacing Deborah Demar, who is retiring.

“Michele’s considerable skills and expertise will enable her to effectively lead our Enosburg team,” Leavitt said. “She brings more than 20 years of banking experience to the position, along with a strong record of excellent customer service and attention to her customers’ needs. We are excited to have her represent Merchants Bank in this community and know that she will help bring even higher levels of service to our customers.”

Born and raised in Vermont, Murphy started her career with Merchants in 2005 as a Personal Banker/Lender at the St. Albans branch. Prior to that, she worked for many years as a Personal Banker/Lender at TD Bank. She started her banking career as a commercial teller for Chittenden Bank in the late 1980s.

Murphy attended Trinity College in Burlington, Vermont and graduated from Mount Mansfield Union High School in Jericho. She lives in East Fairfield with her husband and is active in the community, doing animal rescue work and volunteering with the Agency on Aging in Franklin County.

As Branch President, she is responsible for the operation of the Merchants Enosburg location at 371 Main Street in Ensoburg. Her responsibilities include customer service, lending, business development, staff development and community relations.
