South Burlington-based Lund has announced several key promotions in its nationally recognized adoption department in the wake of Wanda Audette's retirement from her full-time role with the organization.

Karisa Thompson, adoption finalization coordinator, has been named to succeed Audette as director of adoption and co-director of Project Family. A 21-year veteran of Lund, Thompson brings deep expertise, unwavering compassion and strategic vision to this role.

Melissa Appleton, Lund's post-pregnancy services coordinator, has been promoted to associate director of adoption, and Emily Smart has been elevated to adoption finalization coordinator, working remotely from the St. Johnsbury area.

Audette, a 30-year employee at Lund, will continue at the agency in advisory capacity through June 2026.

“We are deeply grateful to Wanda for her decades of visionary leadership,” said Lund President and CEO Liz Gamache. “Her impact will be felt for generations. With Karisa stepping into this vital role, we’re confident our adoption team will carry forward Lund’s legacy of excellence. This has been a thoughtful and collaborative transition, and we’re excited for what comes next.”
