Geoffrey Hesslink of Merchants Bank to speak at ESOP conference in Killington

Geoffrey R. Hesslink, Executive Vice President and Senior Lending Officer, will share his expertise on employee stock ownership at the New England Chapter of the ESOP Association’s Fall Conference. The conference takes place October 10-12 at the Killington Grand Hotel in Killington, Vt.
Hesslink will be part of the “Forming an ESOP Company” panel on October 12. The session will use role-play to help participants understand the process of becoming an ESOP company -- from when an owner first learns about ESOPs, to bringing the team together, to negotiating the ESOP’s stock purchase, to announcing the ESOP to all employees.
With more than 22 years in the banking industry, Hesslink leads the Commercial, Government and Business Banking Division of Merchants Bank and is a Senior Lender. Other presenters on the panel include Tabitha Croscut, a partner in the law firm of Steiker, Fischer, Edwards & Greenapple, P.C.; Michael McGinley, of Prairie Capital Advisors; Scot Storjohann, BTC ESOP Services/Bankers Trust Co.; Joseph Verri, Morgan Stanley; and Tommy Harmon of Sonnax Industries, Inc.
The conference – called “Catch a Lift to the ESOP Summit” – offers three tracks of educational programming. It is designed to help participants with varying levels of knowledge and experience learn about ESOPs from the experts. A wide-range of topics will be covered, ranging from the basics of how ESOPs work, to legal aspects of corporate governance, to marketing employee ownership, to navigating IRS and DOL audits.
Sponsored by the New England Chapter of the ESOP Association, the event is open to all employees, managers and owners of companies that are employee-owned or interested in becoming employee-owned. Individuals don’t need to be an ESOP Association member to attend.
