The Community Health Centers of Burlington (CHCB) is pleased to announce Dr. Heather Stein has been named Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Stein graduated from Virginia Tech with a BS in biochemistry and a BA in classical studies. She attended medical school at West Virginia University before moving to Vermont for her family medicine residency at Fletcher Allen (now the University of Vermont Medical Center). During this time, she was introduced to the CHCB community and it made a lasting impression. Dr. Stein first joined CHCB as a Primary Care Provider in 2011, and has served as Associate Medical Director, Medical Director, and Interim Chief Medical Officer during her tenure. Dr. Stein’s professional interests include coordinated team-based care and under-resourced community members, and comprehensive care for the whole family. She is board certified in Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine.
“Since stepping in to the interim position last fall, Dr. Stein has provided exceptional leadership during one of the most difficult periods in our organization’s history. She has demonstrated diplomacy, compassion, and a sense of humor that is essential to this key leadership position. Our organization and the patients we serve are lucky to have her,” said Chief Executive Officer Jeffrey McKee, PsyD.
