VNA welcomes new members to Board of Directors

The Visiting Nurse Association of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties announced the appointment of four new members to its Board of Directors and elected 2017 Board officers during their Fall Annual Board Retreat.

New Board Members Appointed - Brian Harwood of South Burlington is the retired CEO of HMC, a marketing firm that began in Stowe in 1976 and is now located in Richmond. He had a concomitant career in broadcasting, beginning at WDEV in Waterbury in 1954. He was a founding partner of a radio station in Stowe which now broadcasts from atop Mt Mansfield. In 2005 he was inducted into the Vermont Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Actively engaged in the community, he has chaired several boards including Central Vermont Adult Basic Education, Vermont Public Television, Vermont Symphony Orchestra, Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice and the Northfield Savings Bank. He also serves on the advisory board of the UVM College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences. A Burlington, Vermont native, Harwood graduated from UVM in 1960 and was named a Distinguished Alumni in 2007.

Tara Pacy of Burlington is the Director of Emergency Care, Access and Patient Transitions at the University of Vermont Medical Center where she has held various positions over the past 29 years. Her current role encompasses the Emergency Department, Patient Transfer Center, Patient Support Services, Critical Care Transport Ambulance Service, Palliative Medicine, Telemedicine, Integrative Medicine, Administrative Nurse Coordinators, Language Access and Interpreters and Case Management and Social Work departments. Pacy has been an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician for 25 years with the University of Vermont Rescue, Shelburne Rescue and Colchester Rescue.

Jim Reardon of Essex is the Director of Finance for the City of Burlington Electric Department. He was Commissioner of the Department of Finance & Management for the State of Vermont from 2005 to 2015. In this capacity, he was the chief financial officer responsible for the oversight, development, and monitoring of the state budget. Reardon was employed in state service for over 29 years in various fiscal leadership roles including Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Finance & Management, Financial Operations Manager for the Agency of Human Services, and Chief Accountant for the Human Services Division of Rate Setting. Reardon is a Certified Public Accountant with Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from Bentley University.

Erika Schramm of Shelburne is the Director of Administrative Services at Vermont Energy Investment Corporation, leading the human resources, information technology, facilities and continuous improvement teams. She has over 15 years of experience in human resources management and is committed to helping organizations tackle tough challenges and work toward a common good by bringing out the unique talents of their people. Schramm holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University and serves on the Lake Champlain Workforce Collaborative.

Board Officers Elected

Barbara Martin, Dean of Administration at Community College of Vermont was elected Chair of the VNA Board of Directors. Other newly elected Board officers include: Vice Chair, Jeanne Hutchins; Treasurer, Joe Hameline; Secretary, Frank Harris; and Assistant Treasurer, James Manahan.
