The Vermont Women’s Fund hires new director

The Vermont Women’s Fund, a component fund at the Vermont Community Foundation, is excited to announce that Meg Smith has been hired as their new director. The Vermont Women’s Fund harnesses the collective power of giving to promote leadership, equality, and economic independence for Vermont women and girls.

Meg has a long-held passion for supporting women and girls, and she honed her skills in communications, media, and public relations while working for Gardener’s Supply and her own consulting company. She has served on nonprofit boards and volunteered with many Vermont nonprofit organizations; she is a current board member of the Intervale Center, Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund, and Charlotte News. She started in her new position in the Foundation offices October 7th.

“There is great opportunity for women and girls to thrive in this state,” Meg says. “I’m thrilled at this chance to ensure that they do.”

“The Foundation sees the work of the Women’s Fund as a critical element in the health of our communities and we’re committed to helping it succeed on every front,” says Foundation President and CEO Stuart Comstock-Gay. “Meg’s experience and enthusiasm will help us deliver on this commitment and will also be a tremendous resource for our partners working to support women and girls.”

The Vermont Community Foundation is a family of hundreds of funds and foundations established by Vermonters to serve their charitable goals. It provides the advice, investment vehicles, and back-office expertise to make giving easy and inspiring. The Foundation also provides leadership in giving by responding to community needs and keeping Vermont’s nonprofit sector vital. Together, its funds and programs provide more than $12 million a year in grants and other investments in Vermont.
