Vermont Couple receives prestigious award for community assistance

Mark and Kristen Wallace, of West Dover, Vermont, were acknowledged this year for their long list of generous achievements in helping their community. Their work is seen every year at community events, fundraising opportunities and in their leadership at many community organizations. Kristen plays a large role at the Chamber of Commerce, always working hard to ensure events run smoothly. This year, she volunteered as chair for the Chamber’s art projects and wine-pairing dinners. She is also on the Board of Directors at the Rotary and, along with Mark, is a volunteer gardener at the Rotary Garden of Hope.

Like Kristen, Mark devotes his time in many places and ways. In addition to being Vice Chair of the DVTA for 12 years, Mark is on the Board of Trustees and the Regional Advisory Board of SVHC. Mark has also served on the Board of Directors of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Vermont for five years. Last year, Mark held the position of Board Vice Chair and currently holds the position of Chair of the Wish Granting Committee. Mark and Kristen’s efforts have made the Fall Foliage Golf Classic a successful, well-known fundraiser and changed the lives of children in Vermont. Since it began, the tournament has raised $131,400.

Mark and Kristen deserve acknowledgement as recipients of the Ralph and Verne Howe Community Service Award and a sincere thank you for their consistent, year round efforts to better our community. To find time for one’s community, while working full-time jobs and raising two kids, is a remarkable and selfless achievement.
