Sugar River Bank, with headquarters in Newport, New Hampshire, is pleased to announce the recent naming of Brackett L. Scheffy as a member of its Board of Directors.
Mr. Scheffy has been an attorney for forty years and has been a State Court judge for twenty-six years. He now presides in the District Court and Family Division of the Sixth Circuit Court in Henniker which serves nine towns. Until 2007, he maintained a full time private law practice in Warner, across from Sugar River Bank’s branch office.
Mr. Scheffy’s relationship with Sugar River Bank spans thirty-eight years, first as a depositor and then in a long professional relationship primarily involving real estate mortgages. By his account, the relationship has been much more than just business. “There was a well worn path between my office and the Warner Branch across the street and much kindness was exchanged,” said Mr. Scheffy. “It is an honor to be asked to join the board of a bank for which I have such respect and affection.”
Mr. Scheffy has also been a member of the Bank’s Board of Incorporators since 1991. He and his wife, Connie, live in Bradford and he serves that town and the Kearsarge Regional School District as moderator. His family has been in Bradford since its incorporation in 1787 — his great-great-great grandfather was the first moderator of the town.
“We are extremely pleased that Mr. Scheffy has joined the board. He brings with him a wealth of experience, knowledge, and passion for community banking,” said Mark Pitkin, President and CEO of Sugar River Bank. “We are fortunate to have a board of directors that are dedicated, as we all are, to our mission of providing the very best in true community-based banking to the markets and people we serve.”
