Stern Center staff present at 66th annual IDA conference

Three Stern Center for Language and Learning staff, including Dr. Blanche Podhajski, President, Janna Osman, Vice President for Programs, and Dr. Melissa Farrall, Program Manager for Evaluation, delivered expert papers at the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) Annual Reading, Literacy & Learning Conference. Dr. Podhajski’s presentation was entitled “It’s Not Your Grandmother’s Grammar – Morphology and Syntax Rock!” Osman, along with Eileen Harris, gave a presentation entitled “General and Special Educator Collaboration Using Universal Literacy.” Farrall presented with Margie Gillis, Liz Liptak, Susan Lowell and Dr. Cathy Spinelli. Their talk was entitled “Bringing the Reading Research into Higher Education: IDA’s Knowledge and Practice Standards at Work.”

The conference was held in Grapevine, Texas from Oct. 28– Oct. 31. More than 2,000 teachers, educators and administrators, reading specialists, researchers, psychologists, physicians, tutors, and parents attended. Every year the conference offers an opportunity for professionals to share ideas, introduce new research, and positively impact the lives of families affected by dyslexia, dysgraphia, and other language disorders.

The Stern Center for Language and Learning is a nonprofit dedicated to enriching the lives of learners because all great minds don’t think alike.
