St Michael’s names former regional editor its new Assistant Director of Marketing for Social Media

Christian Camerota, former associate regional editor at Patch Media, has been named Assistant Director of Marketing for Social Media at Saint Michael's College. Mr. Camerota, a resident of Colchester, started his new position on Nov. 7. A 2004 graduate of Saint Michael’s College, Mr. Camerota started with Patch as a local editor in Wiltonin 2009. In April 2011 he was promoted to associate regional editor in Southwestern Conn., where he oversaw nine of the company’s nearly 900 sites nationwide. Previously he worked as an account executive and copywriter for The San Francisco Chronicle, worked in finance for Wachovia, and has written for The New London Day, National Geographic Adventure Magazine and Men’s Journal Magazine. Mr. Camerota has completed work, including a magazine feature article thesis on Coney Island development, toward and will earn a master’s degree in journalism from Quinnipiac University in January 2012. “I would like to see the overwhelmingly positive community feel that I experienced at Saint Michael's College translated to and represented in the on-line space,” he said. “This job allows me to bring all my prior experiences and put them to use for an institution that got me started along that path,” Mr. Camerota said. “After college I always had the sense I wanted to do something with writing and communication – now it is most exciting to work in both media and communications in higher education.” Mr. Camerota is the son of Holly and Louis Camerota of Waterford, Conn. He graduated from The Williams School in New London, Conn. before going to Saint Michael’s for his bachelor’s degree in English Literature.
