President of Small Planet joins College of St. Joseph

David Townsend, President of Small Planet Communications, Inc. will join the College of St. Joseph as Director of Communications in November. In this role, Townsend and his firm will be responsible for college publications for admissions, development and public relations; website development and maintenance; design and coordination of advertisements; and general college promotion/public relations.
CSJ President Frank Miglorie described this collaboration as a new approach to accomplish the many tasks associated with a comprehensive communications strategy for the institution. He noted that Townsend’s firm has been involved with the college on many of these types of projects, including the design of a new college web site earlier this year. Townsend brings more than 35 years of experience in marketing, publications, web site design, and public relations to the position. Over the years he has worked with both local and national clients including Schwinn, Casella Waste Systems, Overland Outdoor Clothing, OMYA, U.S. Department of Transportation, Evian, and LADIF SRL, an Italian company specializing in the marketing of illustrations.
A resident of Rutland, VT, Townsend has received numerous creative awards over the past thirteen years and has been an advocate for program development and hiring of people of disability, including serving as a committee member on the Governor’s State Rehabilitation Council.
