The Peace & Justice Center, a nonprofit organization that promotes social justice, equality and peace through activism, education and community programs, has elected Isa Paredes (pictured), Luisana Rodriguez and Gretchen Galbraith to its board of directors.
Paredes is a community organizer and multimedia creator originally from Lima, Peru. She co-founded Hermanas Vermont along with Rodriguez, an effort to foster connection among Latinas in Vermont through monthly meetings, events and workshops. A graduate of St. Michael's College, Peredes serves as marketing coordinator for the city of Burlington.
Rodriguez is a bilingual communications and community-organizing professional with a background in psychology and marketing. She currently serves as a review response specialist at Widewail, a Burlington-based company that provides online reputation and customer experience management for local businesses. She holds a bachelor's degree from Universidad Arturo Michelena in Valencia, Venezuela.
Gretchen Galbraith, a social historian, serves as vice president of academic affairs and provost at Saint Michael’s College. Her teaching has focused in recent years on key historical moments in which important questions about human rights are contested. Galbraith is a graduate of Connecticut College and holds a doctorate in history from Rutgers University.
