The Windham Foundation, parent company of Grafton Village Cheese, formally announced today the re-hire of two former Grafton Cheese staff members back to the team; Meri Spicer as the Sales and Marketing Director and Wendy Brewer as Sales Manager. Both are now working at the company.
Spicer served as Director of Marketing at Grafton Village Cheese for two years, then moved to Maplebrook Farm Cheese as their Director of Business Development. Late this summer, she returned to Grafton Cheese. She, along with Windham Foundation President Bob Allen, are now leading the sales and marketing initiative at the company.
Brewer returns to Grafton Village Cheese as sales manager. She re-joined the team in late August, having worked at the company for seven years where she had served in various sales positions including new business development and sales. Prior to her return, Brewer was New England District Sales Manager for Emmi Roth Kase, makers of European-style specialty cheeses. A seasoned veteran in the dairy industry, she also served in sales at Stonyfield Farm Yogurt and as a buyer for Northeast Cooperatives, a distributor of national and specialty food products.
Both Spicer and Brewer are based out of the Brattleboro office.“We are thrilled at the return of Meri and Wendy to our sales team, both of whom are well-respected in the dairy industry,” said Allen. “We have already experienced a positive increase in sales during their short time back on the team. We look forward to seeing a continued response in our core and Cave Aged lines for Grafton Village Cheese sales in the industry.”
Grafton Village Cheese, located in Grafton, Vermont, handcrafts artisanal cheddar and specialty cheese. The company was founded in 1892 as the Grafton Cooperative Cheese Company, which converted surplus milk from local dairy farmers into cheese. Years later, a fire destroyed the original factory. When the Windham Foundation restored the company in the mid 1960s, a new era for the town was born. Today, quality and taste continue to serve as the hallmark of Grafton cheeses. As part of the nonprofit Windham Foundation, much of Grafton Cheese’s annual earned income funds the Foundation’s charitable programs.
