Hillary Read, a branding and marketing consultant, has been named Volunteer of the Year by the Lyric Theatre Co. This award is presented annually to a volunteer who has gone above and beyond the call of duty and exemplifies the best of volunteerism.
Read has been a member of the Lyric board of directors since 2020 and currently serves as board secretary. She also has worked behind the scenes on many of the Broadway-like performances the theater company has produced.
A graduate of Harvard University, where she majored in English and American literature and language, Read was a sportswriter for the Burlington Free Press and a sports copy editor the Boston Globe. She has also spent time in New Mexico as an artist-in-residence (fiction writing) at the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation in Taos, New Mexico, and currently serves as board chair of the Young Writers Project.
