The Intervale Center is excited to announce that Tom Nold and Mari Jo Hanbury have joined the Intervale Center team as Finance Director and Staff Accountant. Tom and Mari Jo will be using their expertise to support the expansion of the Center’s social enterprises: working to increase profits while maximizing social benefits like clean water, healthy food, and fresh air, and deepening the work of programs in farm business development, gleaning and food rescue, and events and celebrations.
Tom Nold joins the Intervale Center with a strong background in finance, management and non-profit work. He comes with 15 years of experience as the Chief Financial Officer at Shelburne Farms, a non-profit organization with a focus on education and sustainability. Prior to that assignment, he was Chief Operating Officer at Vertek Corporation. He was on the Intervale Center Board of Directors from 2009-2011 and is now eager to reconnect with the organization in this capacity. Tom went to Hamilton College for Economics.
On joining the Intervale Center team, Tom says, “Vermont is really blessed with wonderful non-profits, and I am very fortunate to join the amazing team at the Intervale Center, contribute to achieving their mission, and stay connected to partner organizations across the state.”
Mari Jo Hanbury spent 25 years in sales and marketing in animal health and agriculture. Part of her responsibilities during her career were spent in business strategy and writing business growth plans for farms & feed stores. Mari Jo graduated from Johnson State College with a degree in Professional Studies and a concentration in Business. She brings a bookkeeping background to the Intervale Center with a desire to connect these passions. She also teaches Equine Nutrition at Vermont Technical College. Mari Jo is excited to be thinking about the food system again in a new capacity at the Intervale Center.
“I think the finance department is actually ‘finance department, plus.’ We have so much more to offer: sales, marketing, management, and customer service experience… I like that a small group of people get a lot of work done here at the Intervale.”
