Dr. Rick Hildebrant, former hospitalist, chief medical information officer and chairman of the Department of Medicine at Rutland Regional Medical Center, has been appointed commissioner at the Vermont Department of Health by Gov. Phil Scott. He began his new role on Oct. 13.
Hildebrant hold a bachelor's degree in biochemistry and molecular biology and a master's degree in biotechnology from Boston University, an MBA from Mass Amherst's Isenberg School of Management and a Doctor of Medicine from Drexel University College of Medicine.
“Dr. Hildebrant has a proven track record of leading health care innovation and transformation,” Scott said. “I believe both his clinical and medical experience will be valuable assets as we continue to navigate the public health challenges facing Vermont.”
