Girls on the Run Vermont, a statewide nonprofit organization for girls in third through eighth grade, has appointed three new members and a new secretary to its board of directors.

New board members include:

  • Ben Katz of Burlington, a detective on the Vermont State Police Major Crimes Unit. He has two daughters, one of whom participated as a Girl on the Run this past spring season.

  • Kelsey Knapp of Hancock, a detective sergeant with the Vermont State Police Royalton Barracks. She has volunteered with the organization as both a coach and as a volunteer at GOTRVT 5K events over the years, handing out medals at the finish line in uniform.

  • Michelle Tomasi of Milton, office manager at Whole Health Nutrition in Colchester. She is a former GOTRVT coach of three years.

In addition to the new members, the board appointed Joanne Perry of Danville (pictured), a longtime Girls on the Run coach and advocate, as its new secretary. He will succeed Lindsay Simpson, who will step down at the end of 2024 after more than 15 years of board service.
