Charles Pizer joins Vermont Public Television as Community Engagement Director

Charles (Chuck) Pizer has joined Vermont Public Television, the statewide public television network, as community engagement director. He will develop partnerships with community organizations, educational groups and other agencies to enhance VPT’s reach and impact throughout the audience area.

For the past decade, VPT has worked to extend its services beyond the screen into the community, drawing on its own local productions and on PBS national programming for inspiration.

Pizer was most recently with the Humane Society of Chittenden County. Before that, he was based in Washington, D.C., working as a legislative strategist and lobbyist with clients including Mayor Richard M. Daley, Chicago Public Schools, City Colleges of Chicago and the School District of Philadelphia. He also worked as senior legislative assistant to a U.S. senator, then as legislative director to the chair of the House Committee on Ways and Means.

He is a graduate of Indiana University and holds master’s degrees from both The Johns Hopkins University and Southern Illinois University, and an A.B.D. Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University.

Pizer lives in S. Burlington with his wife, Penny, and four children, Sam, Ashley, Bobby and Molly.
