The Burlington Business and Professional Women’s (BPW) organization presents its 2011 Woman of the Year, Employer of the Year and Woman of Achievement Awards at an Achievement Awards event on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. at the Best Western Windjammer Conference Center in South Burlington, Vt. Award recipients include: Burlington BPW member Carol Morse, R.N. – 2011 Woman of the Year; Burlington, Vt.-based Cynthea’s Spa – 2011 Employer of the Year; and Annie Ramniceanu, M.S., L.C.M.H.C., L.A.D.C., of Spectrum Youth & Family Services – 2011 Woman of Achievement.
The Woman of the Year Award recognizes a Burlington BPW member who is a true “woman helping women” in her personal and professional life. A BPW member for more than 40 years, Essex, Vt., resident Carol Morse received the 2011 Woman of the Year in honor of her exceptional leadership and integrity and her distinguished achievements for the betterment of Burlington BPW and the local community. Morse serves as a per diem nurse for the Visiting Nurse Association of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties.
The Employer of the Year Award recognizes a local business that provides outstanding opportunities for upward mobility, training, development, and benefits for its female employees. Founded in 2005 and based in downtown Burlington, Vt., Cynthea’s Spa is owned and operated by Cynthea Wight Hausman. The small business, which offers day spa services such as facials, massages and waxing, employs 9 people. Staff members receive ongoing product training, and apprenticeship opportunities are available. Employee compensation is based on certification and seniority, and staff members are allowed flexibility regarding dependent care.
Duxbury, Vt., resident Annie Ramniceanu, who serves as clinical director at Spectrum Youth & Family Services, received the Woman of Achievement Award in appreciation of her exceptional leadership, wisdom and integrity, and her distinguished achievements for the betterment of women and her community. She works with hundreds of at-risk youths through Spectrum, an organization that provides services ranging from counseling to mentoring to residential living programs.
Founded in 1949, Burlington BPW is affiliated with Vermont BPW and BPW Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) research and education organization. The work of BPW Foundation supports workforce development programs and workplace policies that recognize the diverse needs of working women, communities and businesses.
