Zimmerman appointed General Counsel effective June 1

Christopher B Zimmerman, assistant general counsel at National Life, has been promoted to Vice President and General Counsel effective June 1. Zimmerman has been at National Life for six years and has provided legal support for the company’s life insurance operations and is responsible for much of National Life’s litigation work.

“He knows our business well and has developed strong relationships both within our organization and in the field,” said Mehran Assadi, National Life’s Chairman, CEO and President. “In searching for a new General Counsel I looked first at the candidates’ legal acumen. What set Chris apart from all the other candidates is that his sharp legal skills are complemented by his personality. He is authentic, grounded and humble – a true servant leader.”

Zimmerman replaces Gregory D Woodworth, who will retire at the end of May after 13 years at the company.

Zimmerman earned his undergraduate and law degrees from Georgetown University. He previously spent 10 years with the law firm WilmerHale.

Zimmerman and his wife, Cara, have three children and live in Stowe.
