Wayside chef wins Chamber award for hospitality excellence

Jeff Virge, chef, baker and manager at the Wayside Restaurant, Bakery and Creamery in Montpelier, was presented with the Vermont Chamber of Commerce's 2024 Vermont Hospitality Excellence Award at the 39th annual Vermont Tourism Summit May 8 at the Mount Snow Grand Summit Resort Hotel in West Dover.

The award honors an individual who exemplifies exceptional service and excellence in the hospital and/or the culinary arts in Vermont.

In addition, Virge recently received a Legacy Award plaque for 40 years of service at the Wayside, where he started working in 1980. Under his leadership, the Wayside’s maple cream pie was recognized as Vermont’s Iconic Pie by the Food Network.
