Nationally recognized fundraiser and advancement leader Monica Delisa has been named president and chief executive officer of the University of Vermont Foundation, effective June 1. Delisa joins the foundation from the University of South Carolina, where she served as vice president for development.
“Monica has built an outstanding reputation over the course of her career by focusing on the people who are at the heart of each institution’s mission,” said Diane Seder, chair of the foundation’s board of directors. “Her commitment to donors, students, colleagues and university partners has been proven again and again.”
“I’m sincerely grateful for the opportunity to join the amazing team at the University of Vermont Foundation,” said Delisa. “I’ve seen firsthand higher education’s power to transform the lives of individuals, families and communities through education, research and service.”
Delisa has a long track record of success in complex higher education settings. At South Carolina, she reshaped and strengthened the development team, implementing industry best practices with an emphasis on prioritizing donor relationships. Prior to that, she directed advancement for Georgia College & State University, where she oversaw a 144% increase in giving over six years. Earlier in her career, Delisa rose through the ranks as a standout fundraiser and mentor at the Texas A&M Foundation and the University of Arizona.
Delisa is a graduate of the University of Arizona, where she also earned a master's in journalism. She is currently completing a doctorate in higher education leadership at City University of Seattle.
