TruexCullins announces staff promotions

TruexCullins Architecture + Interior Design recently announced the promotion of five employees to new leadership positions within the firm. Coinciding with the celebration of the firm’s 50th anniversary, the promotions recognize individuals who have made significant contributions and will play a major role in leading the firm into the future.

“Design is a collaborative process,” said David Epstein, AIA, the managing principal of the firm, “and these outstanding design professionals are key to the firm’s success.”

Marc DeSmet has been named Senior Associate. Marc has over 20 years of experience in hospitality architecture and interior design and serves as a Senior Designer and Project Manager for hotel, restaurant, bar and spa projects. Marc has been instrumental in the expansion of our Hospitality Design Studio at TruexCullins, creating stunningly beautiful interiors for clients such as Rockbridge Capital, Omni Hotels & Resorts, and DiamondRock Hospitality Company. His creative talent, attention to detail, and clear understanding of industry trends has earned him multiple Hospitality Design and Gold Key Awards. Marc holds a Bachelor of Architecture from University of Detroit Mercy.

Ben Allred, AIA has been named Associate. He has been with the firm since 2011, and provides creative design leadership for commercial, institutional and educational projects. Ben has a deep understanding of his client’s needs and meets their project requirements with creative design solutions. Ben’s recent projects include Burton Snowboards in Burlington, VT; the Tashkent International School in Tashkent, Uzbekistan; and the Novo Nordisk campus in Lebanon, NH. Ben’s multidisciplinary design skills extend to graphic design, web design, and set design. He holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Utah.

Cam Featherstonhaugh, AIA, CSI has been named Associate. Cam is an architect with the Education studio where he brings a knowledge of sustainable building practices and building science to the design and development of Pre-K through 12 schools and higher-education facilities. He is versed in the educational pedagogy of 21st century learning and is adept at guiding his clients through the challenges and opportunities of the design and construction process. Cam’s recent projects include renovations to the Warren Elementary School and Williston Central School. Cam serves on the National Board of Directors of the Construction Specifications Institute and is the founder of the Vermont Chapter of AIA Emerging Professionals Network. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Norwich University.

Tom Karlhuber, AIA has been named Associate. Tom is an architect for workplace, resort, and residential projects, with over 18 years of experience in the industry. Since joining TruexCullins, Tom’s projects include the design of a lakeside residence in the Adirondacks; a resort in Longboat Key, Florida; and a multi-purpose event and athletic center at the University of Vermont. Tom’s attention to his client’s needs and ability to translate those requirements into workable, innovative solutions is what has led to many successful projects. Tom serves as Co-Chair of the Shelburne Museum Barnstormers Steering Committee. He holds a Master of Architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia.

Lynda Pibus been named Assistant Finance Director. Lynda has been with TruexCullins since 2013 serving as Staff Accountant. Her thoughtful attention to detail and thoroughness have been key to the firm’s financial success. Lynda holds a Diploma in Accounting from Le Centre de formation professionelle Lennoxville in Sherbrooke, Quebec. She is graduating with an Associate Degree from CCV this year and has been accepted into the Accounting program at Champlain College. Lynda is bilingual in French and English.
