Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging (SVCOA) is pleased to announce that it has hired Chris Adams as its new Development and Communications Director. In this role, Adams will be responsible for all SVCOA public relations and fund development efforts, and will also serve on SVCOA’s senior management team.
“I am excited to join SVCOA and help the organization continue to provide a range of essential programs and services to elders in Bennington and Rutland counties,” said Adams. “I’m also eager to leverage my past experiences to make my mark on SVCOA’s outreach and development efforts, initiatives that will ensure SVCOA and its offerings are visible throughout our local communities.”
Adams, 31, comes to SVCOA with nine years of diverse experience in the public relations and strategic communication field. Most recently, Adams served as an information and outreach specialist with the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department. Prior to this, Adams worked as communications coordinator for Capital Connections, LLC, a Montpelier-based government and public relations firm, as a communication and external affairs representative for Green Mountain Power, and as a public affairs representative for Central Vermont Public Service.
A graduate of Castleton University, Adams has also been active in the Rutland community for a number of years, previously volunteering on the boards of the Rutland Community Cupboard and the Castleton University Alumni Association, and currently serving as a high school athletics coach and part-time firefighter.
“We are thrilled to welcome Chris to the SVCOA team and look forward to working with him to grow awareness of the agency and the various resources it provides to elders throughout southwestern Vermont,” said George Davis, president of the SVCOA board of directors. “Chris brings a proven skill set with respect to various aspects of communications and development, including public, government and media relations, campaign and event coordination, and fundraising, among other skills.”
Adams joins Rosemary Greene - Business Operations Director, Courtney Anderson – Nutrition Director, Dana McMahon – Rutland Aging Services Director, and Jennifer Plouffe – Bennington Aging Services Director, on SVCOA’s senior management team.
