Samaritan House announces new Executive Director

Brad Ferland, President of the Samaritan House Board of Directors, is proud to announce that Alicia Gay has been named as Executive Director. Alicia served as the Interim Director for Samaritan House since the fall of 2017. Ferland remarked, “Alicia has been an amazing leader both at Samaritan House and in the greater community with dedication and heart that exemplifies Samaritan House mission and goals. We feel very fortunate to have her leading the efforts.”

Alicia has been with Samaritan House since 2011, when she started as Shelter Staff, overseeing the shelter and guests to ensure a safe environment. She was then promoted to Shelter Manager, where her duties included supervision of staff and reporting to the executive director developing new protocols, procedures and training to support all Samaritan House employees.

Prior to her role at Samaritan House, Alicia was employed by Home Instead Senior Care where she served as a staffing coordinator, trainer, interviewer, and was also a caregiver. Alicia was also the Director of Securities and Policy Holder Services at Vermont Agency for 8 years, where she managed all existing life insurance clients and processed new business for securities; primary responsibilities being oversight of audits and compliance criteria.

Excited to be serving the community through her role at Samaritan House, Alicia says, “I enjoy serving others and believe strongly in helping those who want to move forward to reach their destination… some of the clients we have served have had the most impact on my life. Working at Samaritan House is my passion and I love what we all do here.”

Alicia grew up in Vermont and has lived in St. Albans for 10 years. She started working at the Samaritan House shortly after moving to Franklin County.
