Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility (VBSR) has welcomed Roxanne Vought as internship and special projects manager. Vought will manage VBSR’s intern program, which links students approaching graduation from Vermont colleges and universities to exciting job opportunities with Vermont businesses. With a grant from the Vermont Department of Labor, VBSR creates paid internships that benefit both the students and the companies.
Vought brings to VBSR a wealth of experience serving businesses and nonprofits. A graduate of UVM, Roxanne started her career through a series of internships with Burlington area non-profits, and continued with management positions at Vermont Mozart Festival, UVM Lane Series and Carbon Harvest Energy. Prior to joining VBSR she spent eight years with UVM Continuing Education, where she helped students of all ages connect with opportunities for learning, enrichment and professional development.
As the intern program manager, Vought will manage existing intern/business matches, and reach out to VBSR member Vermont employers for the purpose of creating new internship opportunities. She will also connect with Vermont institutes of higher learning to identify students with a desire to make connections with Vermont employers.
“We are so pleased to have a person as talented as Roxanne join us to round out the VBSR team,” noted Andrea Cohen, VBSR’s Executive Director. “Roxanne has such a strong understanding of the needs of both the students and the business community. We’re fortunate Roxanne has decided to bring her energy and talents to VBSR.”
Vought is a frequent performer and teacher. She lives in Burlington with her partner, Nate Plasha, and enjoys time outside, in the kitchen, on stage and in the classroom.
