Pure Water for the World in Rutland honored outgoing board president Bob Mohr at the board's summer meeting for his immeasurable contributions and steadfast dedication to the organization and the families and communities it serves. Mohr completed his term as board president on Aug 6.
“We are extremely grateful for the 19-plus years of unwavering commitment and support that Bob has given to PWW and the people we serve,” said PWW Executive Director Matt Korn. “PWW is a better organization, thanks to his leadership. He has left a true legacy, which will continue to impact lives for generations to come."
Mohr was presented with an appropriate gift from fellow board members, Rotarians, PWW supporters and PWW staff members: in his honor, the rural community of Las Candelaria in Honduras will gain reliable access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education. The 14 families who live in the community have homes, but no access to water and limited sanitation.
Under Mohr's guidance, Pure Water for the World has expanded and matured. Highlights of his board tenure include PWW’s initial expansion into Haiti and expansion into new regions of Honduras; emergency response efforts following the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti; partnership with UNICEF in Honduras; and establishment of WASH training and consulting services in both countries. Most recently, he was instrumental in finalizing the decision to transition the PWW team in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to the northern region of Limonade, where the team could be more impactful and effective.
Alice Urban, previously vice president of the PWW board, succeeds Mohr, and Brian Reed will fill the role of vice president.
