David J. Orfao, co-founder and managing director of General Catalyst, a venture capital firm in Cambridge, Massachusetts, has been appointed to a five-year term on the board of trustees at Norwich University. Orfao, a 1981 accounting graduate of Norwich, will serve as a member of the board's technology, facilities and investment committees.
While at Norwich, Orfao was a student in the Corps of Cadets, played on the rugby team and was a member of the Accounting Society. He has been engaged in the university by serving on the Investment Committee of the board since 2016 and has attended several NUcleus trips over the years.
At General Catalyst, Orfao has been instrumental in spearheading early-stage and growth-centric investments in tech, software and related products across many industries since its inception in 2001. Over the last two decades, the firm has successfully raised $8.6 billion across a portfolio of 15 funds and made more than 1,000 investments.
Prior to joining General Catalyst Partners, Orfao served as president, CEO or senior vice president at four publicly held companies.
