Rick Norcross was recently honored to be elected as a Regular Trustee of the Eastern States Exposition at the Annual Meeting in West Springfield, MA. The Eastern States Exposition, also known as “The Big E,” is the sixth largest fair in the United States and last year welcomed over 1.5 million visitors.
Over the span of his 56 years as a professional musician, he has played at countless fairs and field days all over the country and can say, without question, that The Big E is his all-time favorite fair "of the lot". Rick & The All-Star Ramblers Western Swing Band were invited to headline the front lawn stage at the Vermont Building on Vermont Day in 2017, 2013, 2009, 1997, 1996 and 1995. By the way, Vermont Day is the biggest day, attendance-wise, of the Big E. Last September, over 172,000 people came to enjoy the festivities and Vermont Maple, Cheddar and Vermont Craft Brews on the Avenue of New England States at the Big E.
Rick is very much looking forward to serving as a Big E Trustee, bringing to bear his experience as an events producer, entrepreneur and sponsorship coordinator since 1974, for 24 years as founder and executive director of The Green Mountain Chew Chew Food & Music Festival, his 11 years at the Florida State Fair and longtime management and promotion of Vermont music and special events.
“I have joined the Vermont delegation of 25 Trustees and was elected along with Vermont Senator Bobby Starr, D-Essex-Orleans. Sitting at my table during the annual meeting were the Agriculture Commissioners of Connecticut and Massachusetts and Roger Albee, former Vermont Secretary of Agriculture and his wife Anita and Tom Beardsley, longtime Sales Director of WDEV, recently retired. Fine company indeed! My sincere thanks to the members of the Big E nominating committee, Vermonters Yvon Lanoue and Francis Lamb. I am looking forward to this wonderful opportunity to serve as a Trustee of the Eastern States Exposition, an incomparable New England Treasure”, Rick said.
