New radiologists, equipment grow Gifford Radiology Department

Gifford Medical Center has welcomed a new radiology group bringing increased services to the Randolph hospital.

Drs. John McIntyre and Scott Smith of Catamount Radiology joined Gifford in April as the hospital’s new radiologists.

A graduate of Wesleyan University in Connecticut and then the University of Vermont College of Medicine, Dr. McIntyre comes to Gifford from Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

He brings 15 years of experience, including teaching appointments in Vermont and California as well as significant clinical experience on both coasts.

Dr. Smith is a graduate of The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. He went on to a general surgery internship and then completed his diagnostic radiology residency and neuroradiology fellowship under Dr. McIntyre at Dartmouth.

“It’s very nice,” says Dr. Smith of his experience at Gifford so far. “The hospital itself has a small town feel to it. Everyone seems to know everyone. Employees,” he says, “are not just polite to one another, they’re interested. It’s a good place to work. I’m very happy.”

“The entire Radiology Department is very excited to have Catamount Radiology working at Gifford,” says Radiology Manager Steve Votey. “Drs. McIntyre and Smith are great to work with. They bring a wealth of experience and will be focused on providing all of our patients and providers with excellent service.”

Both physicians are board certified by the American Board of Radiology and belong to a host of professional organizations.

Under Catamount Radiology, notes Votey, “We will see additional radiology services offered.”
